Officials concluded that two Georgia firefighters who were found dead in Tennessee in June were a case of murder-suicide.

A recently completed autopsy report stated that Raegan Anderson, 24, fatally shot Chandler Kuhbander, 24, before turning the gun on herself. According to Newsweek, Anderson left behind a note to her grandmother in which she apologized for her actions.

“I’m sorry to whoever found us. I am sorry to everyone I hurt,” reportedly reads the note dated June 25. “Tell her how sorry I am. I love you, Nanna. I want her to inherit everything.”

The Cocke County Medical Examiner determined that Anderson died from a gunshot wound to the head — with a deformed bullet and bullet fragments being recovered from her scalp. A toxicology report came back negative.

Anderson and Kuhbander worked for Liberty County Fire Services in Hinesville and were in a relationship for seven years before breaking up in 2023. Investigators determined that Anderson was “unstable” and forced Kuhbander to go with her on June 24 — six days before they were found dead.

Anderson kidnapped Kuhbander on June 24, according to investigators. Anderson was reportedly “unstable” and forced Kuhbander to go with her, according to the autopsy.

On June 22, Kuhbander was on a date at Olive Garden in Pooler when Anderson showed up, according to a police report obtained by Newsweek.

Kuhbander told officials that Anderson made false statements about his date until she felt “uncomfortable” and left the restaurant.

Anderson and Kuhbander later started arguing in the parking lot. Anderson allegedly keyed his car, broke the gas cap and tore the rear windshield wiper off.

She claimed that Kuhbander had said “hurtful” things to her, and she was upset that he was moving on.

The car was found parked in the woods of a private property. Kuhbander was in the passenger seat and Anderson was sitting on top of him.

Their IDs were found in the car, along with a suicide note written by Anderson dated June 25.

Hinesville police said the pair was found dead in a car in Cosby, Tennessee, more than 300 miles away from where they vanished nearly a week earlier.

Newsweek reported that Anderson was found sitting in the passenger seat on top of Kuhbander. Their IDs were also found in the car, parked on private property in the woods.

Before the bodies were found, the Hinesville Police Department urged the public to be on the lookout for Anderson’s vehicle, a 2017 black Ford Focus.

An argument reportedly ensued between Anderson and Kuhbander which led to Anderson keying his car, breaking the gas cap and rear windshield wiper. Anderson told police that Kuhbander made hurtful statements to her, according to Newsweek.
